Caddy Bay Collection ‘Carbon 10’ watch box [/caption]Cases that come with many watches are typically adequate for storage when not in use but they can often be bulky and you won’t see the watch. For someone who’s acquired several timepieces it can become a bit cumbersome to have multiple large single-watch boxes on their bureau or nightstand.
That’s especially true if you own automatic watches which must be wound daily. A watch box that acts as one central place to store watches can cut down on the clutter and save you time in the morning when winding your watches and deciding what to wear. Caddy Bay Collection is producing high-quality storage solutions for horological enthusiasts at a fraction of the price what some other companies charge. Caddy Bay Collection sent Examiner one of its new Carbon 10 watch boxes with a glass top display, and we spent over a month using it.
At 12.2 inches wide by 8.2 inches deep and 3.8 inches high, the Caddy Bay Collection Carbon 10 in Red doesn’t take up that much room on a nightstand or dresser. There’s a felt bottom of the case, so that it won’t damage any wooden furniture you store it on. The biggest boon to this watch box is its glass top display with key. While the locking mechanism would do nothing from preventing thieves from taking the box out of your home and shattering the glass to get at your watches, it’ll definitely keep any children, pesky roommates, or other loved ones from “borrowing” any of your timepieces. Looking straight down through the glass you can see all ten of your timepieces, and the soft black leatherette pillows feature “racing inspired” colored stitching.
Actually using the Caddy Bay Collection Carbon 10 watch case is easy. Just push in the buttons on both sides of the front metal locking latch and lift up. Simply pick up and squeeze one of the pillows and then insert it in into the band of your watch, then place it back. The pillows are a slightly loose in the case, but that just makes it easier to grab or store the watch you wear each day. You’d only want tight fitting pillows in a travel case. There’s plenty of room to fit watches with faces up to 67 mm wide alongside two 48 mm wide timepieces. The Caddy Bay Collection Carbon 10’s interior is lined with additional soft black leatherette which will help to prevent any scratches that might otherwise damage your watch bands had they fallen onto a hard surface. You could choose to remove any of the pillow to store other jewelry you may have such as rings and cuff links, giving you a little extra versatility in how to store your accessories.
While the Caddy Bay Collection Carbon collection is available in multiple styles and sizes for horologists who may have larger collections, the Carbon 10 makes a great entry point for someone looking to keep their timepieces in order.
