UnboxBoardom.com is a monthly subscription service that takes the guesswork out of finding great board games. Each month subscribers receive an email that allows them to choose from three curated titles. We reached out to UnboxBoardom and received a one month trial provided by the company to see how the process works.
It began with an email from UnboxBoardom with the choice from a selection of three games: Ancient Artifacts, King of Tokyo, and Before There Were Stars. The email provided summaries of each game, and ratings by UnboxBoardom about their “family friendly,” “strategy involved,” and “party starter” status. The process of making our selection was easy, we just had to click on “I want (name of game)” link of the appropriate game.
If a subscriber doesn’t choose a game within five days of receiving the email, UnboxBoardom will “surprise” you with a random game from that month’s choices. If you already own all the games, or are not interested in any of the titles that month, you can contact their support and skip that month.
We chose Ancient Artifacts, and the game came safely and expertly packed. You can watch an unboxing in the video below.
LuvItOrLeavitt.com rating: We Luv It!
It’s our opinion that UnboxBoardom works best as a gift if you don’t know what game to purchase a loved one and don’t want to ruin the surprise by asking them for a specific title. UnboxBoardom allows your favorite gamer to receive a new board game of their choice every month.
As of the moment of this publication, UnboxBoardom.com offers three different subscription plans: $29.99 for monthly, $30.99 for bi-monthly, and $31.99 for quarterly. If you’re uncomfortable with signing up for a subscription, UnboxBoardom also offers a “pay as you go” plan for $33.99 a game. Additionally, the company also has a limited selection of titles for direct purchase from their website.
